Vogue Paris April 2011

Emmanuelle Alt's first cover for Vogue Paris. Honestly, I love it.  Coming from Alt, I think it's actually quite unexpected.  Knowing her tomboy tendencies, I really thought she would go with someone like Freja, so I was so excited and intrigued when I heard that Gisele was her first choice of a cover star.  I'm also thrilled to see she chose such a feminine dress!  I think Alt really made a statement with this cover, that statement being that she's not a one-note Isabel Marant skinnies-loving, hardcore Balmain leather pants devotee; she can definitely do soft and pretty, too.

Those who know me know that I am not a huge fan of Gisele, but I think she actually looks stunning here; I've never quite understood why people pegged her as a sexy "bombshell" type when I always think she looks best in feminine clothing.  Of course, Dolce & Gabbana's SS11 collection was among my absolute favourites, so I guess I'm being a bit biased here.

That said, Gisele's Balenciaga SS11 grungy punk ads are stellar.
